Welcome to Hawkinge Primary School!
In these unprecedented times we wanted to give parents of pupils who are due to start school in September 2021 an insight into our school.
I am the head teacher (Miss Ward) and Mr O’Brien is the deputy head teacher – we feel privileged to work with such a great team of children, parents and staff every day. We are very proud of our school, our community and all that we achieve together academically and socially, including during the tough year we have had this year. We are exceptionally proud of the curriculum our team have developed over time – being accredited with awards for many areas of the school curriculum. We are most proud of the children in our school. We love watching them grow from little boys and girls when they start school in Reception to the wonderful young adults they grow into by the time they leave our school (many stay in touch for years to come – we love to find out how they are getting on!)
To prepare your child for starting school, we have created the following video for you to watch that will give you lots of information before their big day in September 2021.
Although we are not able to give physical tours this year – year on year, parents who are able to have a tour comment on the friendly, family atmosphere of the school, our ‘community spirit’ and the quality of work they see on display.
Mrs Rand and Miss Milborrow are our Reception class teachers. They have both worked at the school for many years – they are a strong part of the Hawkinge Community. They are ‘experts’ at settling children into school life and building their foundations for the rest of their schooling! At the bottom of this page there are two videos of them each reading a story for your enjoyment!
Mrs Rand and Miss Milborrow were keen to share some photographs of the Reception classrooms and outdoor area with you……
Our website hosts a vast amount of information about our school – we hope it gives you a real flavour of our school. We have asked parents of pupils who have started in Reception this year about the questions they asked / wish they had asked when looking around schools and below is a link to the range of FAQs they suggested. There is also a link below to our latest Ofsted report (2019) and our prospectus. We hope you find these helpful. If you have further questions you would like to ask please drop us an email to email@example.com and we will get back to you.
