Parent forum is an opportunity for parents to have a voice at Hawkinge Primary School .  It currently consists of a group of about 8 parents and 3 teachers and we meet on Monday or Tuesday evenings at least once every old term (3 times a year) in Miss Dawe’s classroom (opposite Mr O’Brien’s office).  We are a friendly bunch and our meetings are informal, with coffee or tea and biscuits, and are not too long.

Parent Forum Update (Terms 1 and 2 2011)

This term in parent forum we have discussed a number of matters including:

  • recent school achievements (Kent Safe Schools Accreditation, Extended Schools Accreditation and the Gold Travel Award.)

  • school improvements (the new office area)

  • the coming year including the school’s priorities for the year (raising standards in writing, mental maths, pupil progress, making the school more dyslexia friendly and presentation of work in books)

  • congestion in the corridor when children in Key Stage 1 leave school at the end of the day

  • the school house system

As a result of our meetings this term we have:

  • changed the way children in Key Stage 1 leave the school (children in Bears class now go through the hall)

  • introduced a new house point system merging the previous system of raffle tickets and merits

Our next parent forum meeting will be Monday 25th June at 7pm in Miss Dawe’s classroom.  Please let Miss Dawe know if you are interested in being involved in Parent Forum.
