Children at Hawkinge recognise their role as global citizens, and enjoy taking part in initiatives that connect them to world.  Below are some examples of projects that they have undertaken over the last few years.

Exploring our local area
In Geography, children across the school enjoy developing their fieldwork skills by exploring the local area and further a field.  Click here to see pictures of the children in action from the Spring term!


The Shelterbox Logo

Shelterbox
In Spring 2008 year 3 and 4 children raised money for Shelterbox, a charity that helps people in disaster zones.  To see pictures of when they came to visit click here, to watch some videos click here.  To visit the Shelterbox website click here.


The Sri Lankan Flag

Sri Lanka
During 2007 and 2008 children learnt about and raised money to rebuild schools that had been destroyed by the Tsunami.

The French Flag

France
In December 2007 a group of year four children went to Boulogne to take part in "The Festival of Light" with other schools across Europe.  Pictures from this can be seen by clicking here.


The American Flag

United States of America
During Autumn 2007 Rhino's set up a pen pal link with a class in Carlsbad, California.


The Indian Flag

India
Between 2004 and 2005 the school raised some money for the Goodwill Children's Home.
